Box Score 2 TEMPE, Ariz. - Idaho State Volleyball swept Alabama-Birmingham and took the first set against No. 17 Arizona State before falling 3-1 to the tournament hosts in the first two matches of the Residence Inn Challenge held in Wells Fargo Arena on ASU's campus Friday.

The Bengals were efficient in the day's first match. They hit a stellar .390 attack percentage including a .500 attack percentage in the first set.

On the defensive end, ISU held UAB to .123 attack percentage including a -.083 percentage in the first set.

The Bengals rode their stellar hitting to a 25-12, 25-22, 25-13 sweep. Tress Lyman led ISU with 11 kills and a .455 attack percentage. Mackenzie Filer hit .500 for nine kills.

Hayley Farrer had 32 assists in the match.

In the nightcap, the Bengals came out hot and took the first set, 25-23, from the Sun Devils. It was only the third set that ASU has lost in five matches this season.

ISU hit .208 in the first set and held the Sun Devils to .192.

Arizona State then went on the attack and won three straight sets to earn the 23-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-18 victory.

Lyman again led the Bengals with 11 kills and Filer added 10. Farrer had 31 assists.

The Bengals close out the Tournament against Iowa at 5 p.m. Saturday.
