HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Idaho State soccer team fell at Portland State Friday afternoon, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Vikings at Hillsboro Stadium.

ISU (1-12-1, 0-5 BSC) gave up three goals in the first half in the 19th, 42nd and 43rd minutes and headed into the break facing a three-goal deficit.

The Bengals, who were outshot by the Vikings (4-9-0, 2-3 BSC) 14 to 4 in the first half, collected themselves and fired eight shots to PSU's five in the second, including 5 to 4 on goals. Sophomore forward Maria Sanchez connected in the 54th minute for her 13th goal of the season, sending a shot past the keeper into the right corner to cut PSU's lead to two, 3-1. With the goal, Sanchez is now tied for second in the nation with total goals scored this season.

The Vikings responded and scored their fourth and final goal two minutes later.

"We were disappointed to be in the locker room a half down 3-0," Head Coach Allison Gibson said. "We battled and played better than 3-0. We allowed soft goals and it's hard to win like that. We continue to have young players make mistakes, however they are gaining confidence and showed some magical moments."

Idaho State returns home Sunday, Oct. 11 and hosts Sacramento State at 12 p.m. at Davis Field.
