Softball Set for Five Games at UNLV

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team continues its travels with five games at a tournament hosted by UNLV. The Bengals play two games on Feb. 27 vs. UNLV and Louisiana Monroe, two games on Feb. 28 vs. DePaul and UNLV and one game on Sunday, March 1 vs. Louisiana Monroe. ISU vs.Wisconsin
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Wisconsin is 5-6 and hitting .260 as a team. Marla Van Abel leads the Badger offense with a .452 batting average.

ISU vs. Louisiana Monroe
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Louisiana Monroe is 12-3 and hitting .335 as a team. ULM has 10 players hitting .300 or better.

ISU vs. UNLV
UNLV leads the series 3-0. UNLV won the last meeting in Las Vegas, 7-1, on Feb. 17, 2012. UNLV is 7-7 and hitting .331. The Rebels have 12 players hitting .300 or better.

ISU vs. DePaul
This is the first meeting between the two schools. DePaul is 6-8 and hitting .321 as a team. Mary Connolly leads the offense with a .471 average.

Galasso Continues Climb in the Record Books
Early into Vicky Galasso's senior season she is already breaking ISU career records. She is first in the career records for runs (148), hits (203), home runs (46) and total bases (382). She is second in the career records for doubles (33), RBIs (165) and walks (66). Galasso needs four RBIs to become the all-time RBI leader. She is also five walks and nine doubles from become the all-time leader in those categories.

Marquez Becomes All-Time Steals Leader
Junior Katelyn Marquez is now the ISU all-time steals leader. She broke Becky Molyneaux's record over the week at Santa Clara. Marquez has 40 stolen bases on 45 attempts, breaking Molyneaux's record of 37 on 43 attempts.

Bengal Bites
-  Kacie Burnett has reached base in  43 straight games dating back to last season.
- ISU has won the Big Sky Conference regular season championship the last two seasons.
- Julie Wright boasts a  70-51 record at ISU since the start of the 2013 season. ISU is 26-8 in the Big Sky Conference.
- The last time ISU beat a team from the Mountain West Conference was Utah State (9-6) on April 8, 2014. The last time ISU beat a team from a "Power 5" Conference was Utah (9-8) in 2013.

And the Winner is...
For the second straight week a Bengal has garnered Big Sky Player of the Week honors. Hailey Breakwell earned it this week for her performance at Santa Clara. Breakwell hit .545 with four runs scored, six RBIs and had a .909 slugging percentage.  Kacie Burnett and Sophie Slagle became the first Bengals to earn conference player of the week honors for their performance at Louisiana Lafayette. Burnett was named the Big Sky Player of the Week for hitting .429 with six hits, six runs scored and five RBIs at the Mardi Classic at Louisiana Lafayette. Slagle posted a 1-1 mark in 16.1 innings, striking out 12 and allowing five runs. Opponents only hit .207 off her in three appearances.
