POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State coach
Bill Evans has announced the signings of Gary Chivichyan and Ethan Telfair.
Chivichyan, a 6-4, 200 pound wing, averaged 21 points a game and shot 50 percent from the field during his season at Middlebrooks Prep. During his high school career at Alemany High School he averaged 18 points, six rebounds and shot over 45 percent from the three-point line.
"Gary provides something that we did not have a lot of last year and that is the ability to shoot the ball," Evans said. "He is a terrific perimeter shooter and he gets shots off quickly. He comes from a good high school and prep school. He has great strength and he has a chance to help us next year."
Telfair, a 6-0, Â 175 pound point guard, comes to Idaho State after an excellent two years at Redlands Community College in Oklahoma. As a sophomore at Redlands he averaged 14 points, five assists and four rebounds a game.
"Ethan is what you want in a point guard." Evans said. "His assist to turnover ratio at Redlands was very good. He shot free throws in the 80's and he was first-team all-league. He is very competitive and we expect great things from Ethan in way of productivity and leadership."
With the signings of Chivichyan and Telfair, the Bengals have now signed six student-athletes for the 2015-16 season.
