Box Score PDFPOCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team fell to the Cowgirls of Wyoming 3-0 in Laramie, Wyo. in its final nonconference matchup of the season.
"The score does not reflect the tremendous effort our players gave tonight," Head Coach
Allison Gibson said. "For the first time all year, our young players really stepped up their game and gave everything they had."
The Bengals, who have started at least seven underclassmen in every match this season, had five different players record shots in the match, four of which are underclassmen.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Shawna Hennings faced 25 shots, including eight shot on goal, in her second career start. Hennings was able tallied five saves for the Bengals in the loss.
Sophomore forward Shaina Ashouri of Wyoming recorded a hat trick for the Cowgirls, scoring in the 15th, 80th and 85th minutes.
"Our team took huge strides today in defining who we are as a team," Gibson said. "Things happened today within our team dynamic that we have been trying to find for weeks."
The Bengals return home Friday, Sept. 25 for their conference opener against Idaho at Davis Field at 4 p.m.
