POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball looks to extend its seven-match win streak this weekend with matches at Idaho Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. MST and at Weber State Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING IDAHO
The Vandals are 7-15 overall this season with a 2-8 mark in conference play. Idaho has picked up wins against Southern Utah and Montana State so far in conference play.
As a squad, the Vandals average 12.2 kills while hitting .191 with 11.4 assists per set. Defensively, Idaho averages 14.5 digs and 1.9 blocks per set. Three players average over two kills per set, led by Sarah Sharp with 2.99. Terra Varney leads the defensive effort with 4.6 digs per set, good for fourth in the conference.
The Vandals are led by Head Coach Debbie Buchanan who is in her 17th season.
SERIES REVIEW
Idaho leads the overall series 19-17, and the Bengals have won the last three, dropping just a single set to the Vandals since 2014. In their last meeting, Idaho State defeated Idaho 3-1 in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament on Nov. 20, 2015.
SCOUTING WEBER STATE
The Wildcats are 13-6 overall with a 4-6 record in conference play. The Bengals defeated WSU 3-0 earlier this season at home.
Weber State averages 12.6 kills while hitting .222 with 11.8 assists per set. Defensively, the Wildcats average 15.2 digs and 3.2 blocks per set to lead the conference. Amanda Varley leads the offensive attack with a 3.38 kills per set. Jesse Hover leads the defensive effort with 4.19 digs per set, good for eighth in the BSC.
Weber State is led by Head Coach Jeremiah Larsen who is in his second season with the program.
SERIES REVIEW
The Bengals lead the series 46-40 and have dominated as of late. Idaho State hasn't lost a match to the Wildcats since Oct. 27, 2011, winning nine in a row including a 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats earlier this season at home.
