Volleyball Continues Play on the Road

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State volleyball team continues play on the road this week with matches at Montana Thursday, Oct. 6 and at Montana State Saturday, Oct. 8. The Montana match is set for 7 p.m., while ISU's match at Montana State is set to begin at 12 p.m. All three teams carry a 1-3 record in Big Sky play.

ABOUT MONTANA

The Griz carry a 4-10 overall record with a 1-3 mark in conference play. Montana defeated Idaho at home 3-2 on Sept. 23 for its first conference win of the season.

As a squad, the Griz average 9.94 kills per set hitting .108 with 9.44 assists per set. Defensively, Montana averages 12.34 digs per set and 1.44 blocks per set. UM is led by Alexis Urbach and Missy Huddleston who average 2.12 and 2.04 kills per set respectively.

Montana is led by Head Coach Brian Doyon who is in his second season with the Griz.

ABOUT MONTANA STATE

The Bobcats are 3-10 on the season with a 1-3 mark in conference play. MSU picked up its first conference win Oct. 1 with a 3-1 win over visiting Montana.

Montana State averages 10.7 kills per set hitting .141 with an even 10 assists per set. Defensively, the Bobcats average 12.04 digs and 1.85 blocks per set. Three players average over 2.30 kills per set, led by Natalie Passeck at 2.45. Allyssa Rizzo leads the defensive effort with 3.96 digs per set.

MSU is led by Head Coach JJ Riley who is in his second season with the Bobcats.

SERIES REVIEW

Vs. Montana
This will be the 75th time in program history that Idaho State has played Montana. The Griz hold a 41-33 advantage in the series, but Idaho State has dominated as of late, winning the last six matches dating back to Sept. 29, 2012. The Bengals bested the Griz last season, winning 3-0 in Pocatello on Nov. 12.

Vs. Montana State
This will be the 72nd meeting in program history between ISU and Montana State. The Bengals hold the edge with a 38-33 series record, and ISU has won each of the last five matches. Last season, ISU defeated Montana State 3-0 in Bozeman, Mont. on Sept. 24.
