POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team looks to continue its winning streak this weekend with games against Portland State and at Sacramento State. The Bengals kick off the week with a home game, Friday, Oct. 7 against the eighth-place Vikings at 4 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. MST kickoff in Sacramento, Calif. against the fifth-place Hornets on Sunday, Oct. 9. ISU currently sits in fourth place in the Big Sky Conference.
ABOUT PORTLAND STATE
This will be the 20th time in program history the Bengals and Vikings have met. Last season, Idaho State fell 4-1 in Portland on Oct. 9.
So far this season, the Vikings are 3-8-1 with a 1-2-1 mark in conference play. PSU picked up a 1-0 win at Montana Oct. 2 and tied league-leading Eastern Washington 0-0 two days prior on Sept. 30. Portland State has netted 13 total goals on the season with six assists. Three players each have three goals and one assist: Katie Forsee, Morgan Matthews and Aurora Bodenhamer.
The Vikings are led by Head Coach Laura Schott who is in her ninth year with the program.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
This will be the 20th time in program history that Idaho State has faced Sacramento State. The Bengals have dominated the last six seasons winning five of the last six contests, but the Hornets claimed a 3-2 win in Pocatello last season.
This season, the Hornets carry a 3-5-4 overall record with a 1-1-2 mark in conference play. CSUS has netted 10 goals on the season for a 0.83 goal per game average while shooting .057. Kayla Collins leads the offensive attack with three goals and one assist on the season.
Sacramento State is led by Head Coach Randy Dedini who is in his 10th year.
