Bengals Play UVU on Wednesday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team returns to the road this week for two games in the state of Utah. ISU plays at UVU on Nov. 16 and Utah State on Nov. 19. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.  and be broadcasted on 102.5 KMGI. To follow the game online log onto isubengals.com.
 
About Utah Valley
Utah Valley opened the year with a 92-69 loss at No. 14 Gonzaga. Conner Toolson had 19 points in 27 minutes of play.  Kenneth Ogbe had 13 points and Isaac Neilson had 10 points and seven rebounds. Last year the Wolverines finished 12-18 and 6-8 in WAC play.

Series vs. Utah Valley
The series between the two schools is tied at 4-4. UVU has won the last three meetings. UVU beat the Bengals 100-76 in Pocatello last year.

Bengals Seeing First Division I Action
Three Bengals saw their first Division I action at New Mexico. Robert Jones III scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds and was 5-6 from the field in 21 minutes of play. Balint Mocsan came off the bench to play 31 minutes and score nine points. Clark Wilkinson played three minutes.

Telfair Triple-Double
Ethan Telfair had his first career triple-double at New Mexico with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. He also had six steals. The Big Sky Conference had three players with triple-doubles last year and Telfair is the first in the league this season. It has been at least 7 years since a Bengal has had a triple-double.

The Week That Was
The effort was valiant and the fight was there but New Mexico used a strong second half to beat the Idaho State men's basketball team 81-70 in front of a crowd of 11,293 at WisePies Arena.

Idaho State led for a majority of the first half and by as many as 10 points to lead 38-32 at the break. ISU maintained its lead in the second period for the first six minutes before New Mexico went on a run to take the lead for good.

Ethan Telfair led the Bengal attack with a triple double, scoring 25 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds and 10 assists and tying his career-high in steals with six.

Robert Jones III had 13 points and Novak Topalovic had a career-high 12 points and tied his career-high in rebounds with nine.

Idaho State shot 47.4 percent for the game and had 10 steals. The Bengals were out rebounded 39-29, turned the ball over 20 times and went to the free throw line only 11 times, making seven.

New Mexico shot 33 percent in the first half but 62 percent in the final 20 minutes. The Lobos had 39 rebounds, turned the ball over 18 times and went to the free throw line 33 times, making 22.

Did You Know
This year is the longest the Bengals have gone without playing a home game to open the season since the 2003-04 team played six games away from Pocatello before opening up at home on Dec. 10 vs. Boise State. This year's Bengal team will have played six  road and neutral site games before the Nov. 29 home opener vs. Lamar.

Scoring Threats
This year's Bengal basketball team returns 75.6 percent of its scoring from the 2015-16 season. The team scored 2,297 points and 1,738 of those points return. Four starters return to the Bengal lineup. All four combined to average 48.2 points.  Geno Luzcando scored 14.4 points, Gary Chivichyan scored 7.6 and Kyle Ingram six a game.
