Men's Hoops Plays Eastern Kentucky in Cancun

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team travels to Cancun, Mexico, for two games in the Cancun Challenge. The Bengals play Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. ISU then plays NJIT or Georgia State on Nov. 23 at a time to be determined. ISU ends the week playing at Texas Tech on Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. Jerry Miller will call the action live on 102.5 KMGI. Fans will be able to follow all games online at isubengals.com.
 
Series vs. Eastern Kentucky, NJIT, Georgia State and Texas  Tech
This will be the first meeting for the Bengals against all four schools.

Scouting Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky is 1-3 with its lone win being over IUPUI (97-87). Nick Mayo leads the team in scoring at 19.3 points a game. EKU is scoring 75.2 points a game and shooting 36.7 percent from the field. Opponents are shooting 48 percent. Eastern Kentucky is averaging 32 rebounds a game and turning it over 13 times.

Scouting Georgia State
Georgia State is 1-2 and plays NJIT on Nov. 22. Jeremy Hollowell is scoring 19.3 points a game. NJIT is shooting 43 percent from the field and averaging 77.3 points a game.

Scouting NJIT
NJIT is 2-2 and plays Georgia State on Nov. 22. NJIT is scoring 85 points a game and shooting 44 percent from the field. Opponents are shooting 41 percent and averaging 70 points a game. Damon Lynn is averaging 24 points a game.

Topalovic Off to Career Start
Novak Topalovic is off to a career-start to the 2016-17 season. He is coming off a career-game where he had 15 points and 16 rebounds at Utah Valley on Nov. 16.  In the season opener at New Mexico he had 12 points and nine rebounds. Topalovic is averaing 10.3 points and 10.3 rebounds a game.  10.3 rebounds ranks 34th in the nation.

The Week That Was
Idaho State lost 82-73 at Utah Valley University. Novak Topalovic had a career-night with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Ethan Telfair had 25 points. The Bengals then lost 85-51 at Utah State. Telfair had 14 points while Geno Luzcando had 11 points and six rebounds.

Did You Know
This year is the longest the Bengals have gone without playing a home game to open the season since the 2003-04 team played six games away from Pocatello before opening up at home on Dec. 10 vs. Boise State. This year's Bengal team will have played six  road and neutral site games before the Nov. 29 home opener vs. Lamar.
