Idaho State Closes Out Cancun Challenge with Friday Afternoon Game at Texas Tech

POCATELLO, Idaho- After playing two games in Cancun, the Idaho State men's basketball team closes out the Cancun Challenge with a Nov. 25, contest vs. Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on 102.5 KMGI with Jerry Miller calling the action. To follow online log onto isubengals.com.
 
Series vs. Texas  Tech
This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Scouting  Texas Tech
Texas Tech is 4-1 after beating Utah State 75-51 and losing to Auburn 67-65 in Cancun. The Red Raiders are shooting .511 percent from the field and holding opponents to .370 percent shooting. Texas Tech is shooting .422 percent from the three-point line and .725 percent from the free throw line. Aaron Ross leads Texas Tech in scoring at 14.8 points a game.  Anthony Livingston is averaging 13.4 points, Keenan Evans and Zach Smith are netting 12.2 and 11.2. Smith is averaging a team-best seven rebounds a game.
 
Boyd Hot in Cancun
In Brandon Boyd's first career starts, the Bengal redshirt freshman scored a career-high 26 vs. NJIT in Cancun and had 25 vs. Eastern Kentucky. Boyd had a career-high four steals, vs. Eastern Kentucky while playing 43 minutes in the overtime loss. He also made four 3-pointers on 6 attempts vs. EKU and made a career-best seven free throws on eight attempts vs. NJIT.

Topalovic Off to Career Start
Novak Topalovic is off to a career-start to the 2016-17 season. He is coming had a career-game with 15 points and 16 rebounds at Utah Valley on Nov. 16.  In the season opener at New Mexico he had 12 points and nine rebounds. Topalovic is averaing 9.8 points and 8.4 rebounds a game. 

Garrity Sees First Action as a Bengal
UVU transfer Hayes Garrity saw his first action at ISU in Cancun. He played 12 minutes against EKU and played 28 against NJIT. Against NJIT he had five points, three steals and five rebounds.

Since the 2005-06 season, ISU has played the following schools from Power-5 Conferences. Washington State (6 times), Utah (3 times), Arizona State (2 times),
Washington (2 times), Oregon (3 times), Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Iowa (2 times), Iowa State, Notre Dame, USC, Wisconsin (2nd time this year on Dec. 7), Oregon State, UCLA, Texas A&M, Illinois, Texas Tech and Kanas. Idaho State's last win over a team from a Power-5 conference was a 62-57 win at Oregon on Dec. 3, 1986.
