POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team closed out the Cancun Challenge with a 91-58 loss to Texas Tech on Friday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas. The Red Raiders, of the Big 12 Conference, improved to 5-1 and Idaho State is 0-6.
Gary Chivichyan led the Bengal scoring with 12 points.
Hayes Garrity and
Erik Nakken each had nine points.
Idaho State was 11-23 from the three-point line and 9-18 from the free throw line. ISU had 17 turnovers while Texas Tech shot 61.4 percent from the field. ISU shot 45 percent. The Bengals were out rebounded 31-17.
The Bengals fell behind by 16 at 29-13 with 11:16 left in the first half. ISU then cut the Red Raider lead to 34-26 with 3:25 left in the half after a 3-pointer by Chivichyan. Texas Tech led 40-29 at halftime.
The 33 point margin of victory was the largest lead of the game.
After six games away from Pocatello, the Bengals play their home opener on Tuesday, November 29, at 7 p.m. vs. Lamar in Holt Arena.
