POCATELLO, Idaho –The Idaho State volleyball team heads west for its final matches of the regular-season. The Bengals face Sacramento State Thursday, Nov. 10 and then head north to face Portland State Nov. 12.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
Sacramento State carries a 17-11 overall record with an 11-3 mark in conference play. The Hornets are in a two-way tie to lead the South Division with Northern Arizona, also 11-3.
So far this season, the Hornets average 13.9 kills per set to lead the Big Sky. Sac State hits .217 with 12.88 assists per set. Defensively, the Hornets average 17.5 digs/set to lead the conference, along with 2.04 blocks per set. Shannon Boyle leads the squad with 3.58 kills and 3.0 digs per set.
The Hornets are led by Head Coach Ruben Volta who is in his ninth season.
SERIES REVIEW
The Hornets hold the advantage in the series with a 29-13 overall record. The Bengals are just 4-15 at The Nest with all four wins coming in the last five seasons. Sacramento State defeated Idaho State in five sets earlier this season in Pocatello.
ABOUT PORTLAND STATE
The Vikings carry a 15-11 overall record with a 7-7 mark in conference play, good for fourth in the South Division. The Vikings average 13.5 kills per set and 12.7 assists hitting .202 per set. Defensively, PSU averages 15.75 digs per set and 2.0 blocks per set.
Pati Anae leads the attack for the Vikings and leads the conference for the season in kills per set with 4.23. Tasha Bojanic leads the defensive effort, averaging 4.74 digs/set.
The Vikings are led by Head Coach Michael Seeman who is in his 10th season.
SERIES REVIEW
The Vikings lead the overall series 33-22, but the Bengals have won five of the last six. PSU broke ISU's five-match win streak with a 3-1 win over the Bengals earlier this season in Pocatello.
