POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team defeated Montana Tech 76-46 on a snowy
Friday night in Pocatello. Idaho State improved to 3-8 on the season and
Brandon Boyd led the Bengals in scoring with 15 points.
Hayes Garrity had 14 points and six rebounds.
Ethan Telfair finished with 13 points.
ISU shot 46.3 percent from the field and hit 11 3-pointers on 25 attempts. ISU was 15-18 from the free throw line and had 33 rebounds. Garrity and
Novak Topalovic each led the team with six.
Montana Tech shot 35 percent from the field and only attempted three free throws. ISU out rebounded Montana Tech 33-30. ISU scored 35 of its 76 points off the bench.
After Montana Tech opened the game with a 2-0 lead ISU led the rest of the game. The Bengals jumped out to a 14-6 lead after a layup by
Geno Luzcando five minutes into the game.
Later in the half, Boyd scored five straight points to up the Bengal lead to 33-19 with
4:18 to play in the first period.
Idaho State led 39-25 at halftime and built a 49-30 lead after a layup by
Keshawn Liggins five minutes into the final period.
Over the next eight minutes ISU outscored Montana Tech 18-6 to take a 67-36 lead after a 3-pointer by Garrity with
7:04 left in the game. ISU's biggest lead of the game was 32 in the final minute of the game.
Idaho State plays at Boise State
on Sunday at
4:30 p.m. The Bengals then play at BYU on
Tuesday, Dec. 20. Idaho State beings conference play at Montana and Montana State on
Dec. 29 and 31.
The Bengals return home
January 7 to host Weber State in Holt Arena.
