ISU Plays at BYU on Tuesday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball plays its final game before Christmas against BYU of the West Coast Conference. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah. Series vs. BYU
BYU leads the series 32-6. This is the first meeting since Nov. 17, 2009 when the Cougars beat the Bengals 87-53. Since 1981 this is only the eighth meeting between the two programs. BYU has won the last seven contests. The Bengals last win was 94-87 in Pocatello during the 1977-78 season. The previous five wins for ISU were during the 1936-37, 1937-38, 1939-40 and the 1944-45 season.

Scouting  BYU
BYU is 7-4 and have won two of its last three games. The Cougras are scoring 84.6 points a game and allowing 75.5. BYU is shooting 45 percent from the field, 30.9 percent from the three-point line and 75.6 percent from the free throw line. The Cougars are averaging 45.5 rebounds a game. Eric Mika averages 21.4 points a game and averaging 8.5 rebounds. Nick Emery is scoring 16 points and TJ Haws is netting 12 points a game.

Tough Nonconference Schedule
As of Monday, Dec. 19 CSUN (3-8) and NJIT (5-8) were the only teams with a losing record. Wisconsin is 10-2, Texas Tech 10-1, New Mexico 7-4, UVU 5-5, Utah State 5-4, Eastern Kentucky 6-6, Boise State 6-4 and Lamar is 5-5. Upcoming opponent BYU is 7-4. The Bengals Division I nonconference opponents have a combined record of 63-47.
