BOULDER, Colo. –
The Idaho State women's basketball team fell to No. 21 Colorado 85-56 Saturday night at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colo.

Two Bengals finished in double figures, led by sophomore guard Saylair Grandon with 11. Junior forward Lindsay Brown chipped in a season-high 10 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.

Idaho State (2-5) fell behind early as Colorado (8-0) raced out to a 14-4 lead in the first 3:23. The Bengals shot 30 percent in the first quarter and shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, but the Buffs cruised to a 30-11 first-quarter lead behind six three-pointers and a 52.4 percent shooting effort.

In the second quarter, the Bengals once again found success at the free throw line, converting 9-of-11 following nine second-quarter Buffs fouls. Yet Idaho State struggled to contain Colorado as the Buffs shot 57.9 percent from the floor for 25 points to extend its lead to 30, 55-25, heading into the break.

"I have to take responsibility for the first half," Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. "We decided to play zone, and they lit us up."

A solid defensive effort from the Bengals in the third quarter forced Colorado to shoot just 36.4 percent from the floor, its worst shooting quarter of the evening. Idaho State sophomore guard Britanny Kochenderfer led the attack in the third for a team-high five points shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from the floor. Six different Bengals scored as ISU outscored Colorado 15-13 in the third quarter.

Idaho State matched Colorado in the fourth quarter, shooting an identical 5-for-13 from the floor, yet the Buffs converted an additional free throw to get the 17-16 scoring edge. Colorado massive first-half scoring effort kept Idaho State at bay, and the Buffs cruised to the 85-56 win to remain undefeated on the season.

Colorado finished with three players in double figures led by Alexis Robinson with a game-high 16. CU's Monica Burich hauled in a game-high eight rebounds to go along with eight points and four assists.

"We played a much better second half than first half," Sobolewski said.

Idaho State continues play on the road as the Bengals travel to Madison, Wis. to face the Badgers of Wisconsin Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. MST.

NOTES
  • For the sixth time this season, Idaho State out-rebounded its opponent. However, this is the fourth time that the Bengals have won the rebounding battle but lost the game.
  • Idaho State attempted a season-high 28 free throws in the loss. It was the third-straight contest that the Bengals have attempted at least 20 free throws.
