POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 78-44 to No. 17 Wisconsin on Wednesday evening in front of a crowd 17,287 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisc.
Idaho State shot 33 percent from the field while Wisconsin finished shooting 51.7 percent. Wisconsin was 6-20 from the three-point line while ISU was 7-23. Idaho State was 5-13 from the free throw line and Wisconsin was 12-22.
The Bengals were out rebounded 47-21. The Bengals turned the ball over 17 times and had eight assists.
"Wisconsin is ranked in the Top 20 for a reason," Idaho State coach
Bill Evans said. "They are really good defensively. They were bigger, stronger, faster and quicker. That is why they are ranked in the Top 20 and paid us to come in here." Â
Balint Mocsan led ISU in scoring with 10 points off the bench.
Hayes Garrity had nine points and
Robert Jones III had seven points and four rebounds.
Ethan Telfair led ISU on the boards with five.
"We got beat up pretty good physically," Evans said. "Now we will see how we respond. How we respond is the most important thing."
The Bengals never led and fell behind 21-3 11 minutes into the game. Idaho State trailed 35-16 at halftime and the Badgers extended their lead to as much as 40 points late in the game.
Idaho State returns home to host Bristol University on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at ICCU Court in Holt Arena.
"We have a pretty good team and I feel we can compete in the Big Sky," Evans said. "I really do."
