POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 76-60 to North Dakota on Thursday evening in Grand Fork, North Dakota. The loss dropped ISU to 10-11 overall and 5-4 in Big Sky Conference play. North Dakota improved to 11-10 and 6-4 in league.
Ethan Telfair scored 13 points and
Geno Luzcando had 10. The Bengals shot 30 percent (19-62) from the field while North Dakota shot 40 percent (27-67).
"They did a really good job defensively against us," Idaho State coach
Bill Evans said. "For the most part our shots were decent but you have to give a lot of credit to UND. We have to watch film, learn from this and move on to prepare for North Dakota."
Idaho State was 7-30 from the three-point line and 15-19 from the free throw line. ISU was out rebounded 49-40 and had 11 turnovers. North Dakota was 12-27 from the three-point line and 10-14 from the foul line.
Adam McDermott led UND in scoring with 28 points off the bench. He was 8-14 from the three-point line. Quinton Hooker had a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Outside an early 2-0 lead, North Dakota led the entire game. North Dakota led 34-24 at halftime and ISU shot 21 percent from the field (6-28).
"We played horrible in the first half and we were only down 10," Evans said.
North Dakota opened the second half on an 11-3 run to take a 45-27 lead with 16:47 left in the game. North Dakota led by as many as 25 points at 73-48 with 3:29 left in the game.
Idaho State plays at Northern Colorado on Saturday, Feb. 6. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
