POCATELLO, Idaho- Despite falling behind 12-0 after three innings, the Idaho State softball team made a rally against the University of Montana before falling 14-9 on Saturday afternoon in Boise, Idaho. The game was a nonconference matchup at the Springhill Suites Invitational.
ISU scored its nine runs on 12 hits but had four defensive miscues.
Ashlyn Ames was 3-4 with four RBIs.
Aubrey Creekmore was 2-4 with three RBIs and
Katelyn Marquez and
Kacie Burnett each had two hits.
Montana had 17 hits off the ISU pitching staff.
Mariah Mulcahy took the loss.
Bailey Foster and
Ashlyn Ames also saw time in the circle.
ISU scored all nine of its runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Bengals opened up their scoring with a three run fourth inning thanks to a three-run homer by Creekmore.
The Bengals added two runs in the fifth inning on a two-RBI single to left field that scored Burnett and
Micheala Taylor.
Montana scored two runs in the top of the sixth before ISU responded with a four-run inning in the bottom of the sixth.
Marquez had an RBI single and Hickman had an RBI on a ground-out. Later in the inning with two outs, Ames had a two RBI single to center field.
ISU returns to the field for a tournament at Cal State Northridge March 18-20.
