ISU Plays at Weber State on Friday and Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team returns to conference play for a three-game series at Weber State. The Bengals play a single game at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 15 and a doubleheader on Saturday, April 16 at 12 p.m.

Weber State is 25-13 and 7-1 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats are hitting .316 as a team and led by Aubrey Whitmer's .426 batting average. She has five homers and 41 RBIs. JaeCie Wilson is hitting .404. The Weber State pitching staff has a 2.69 era and led by Kirtlyn  Bohling's 2.28 era and 15-4 record.

Bengals vs. Weber State
Idaho State leads the series 31-20. ISU is 14-6 vs. the Wildcats in Pocatello and 11-10 in Ogden. The Bengals have won seven of the last 10 meetings but Weber State has won the last two, winning 9-5 in Pocatello on April 4, 2015 and 9-1 in five innings during the Big Sky Tournament on May 8, 2015.

Slagle Climbing the Record Books for Wins
Sophie Slagle has a 26-14 record in the circle since arriving at Idaho State. Slagle's 26 wins third all-time in ISU history.   Slagle's winning percentage is .650 (26-14), the best since Wendy Alvey went 16-6 (.727) in 1978 and Jo Hillegas-Skeleton was 16-6 in 1977 and 1979. The school record for most wins in a career is 43 by Kandis Clesson.

Burnett's Hot March Continues into April
Kacie Burnett leads the Bengal offensive attack. She is hitting .438 and is 16-20 stealing bases. She has scored 36 runs and tallied 16 RBIs. In the month of March she hit .500, scored 17 runs, had 23 hits, was 7-8 stealing bases and had seven RBIs. In four games in April she is hitting .538 (7-13) and has scored six runs.

Portesi Making Early Impact
Alex Portesi has made an impact for the Bengals. The transfer from Farleigh Dickinson has the second-best batting average on the team at .381, scored 19 runs and has 15 RBIs. She is 4-4 stealing bases.

Taylor Having Solid Senior Season
Micheala Taylor has started all 35 games at second base and she at one  point had a 16-game hitting streak in the season. For the season she is hitting .354. She is second on the team in runs scored with 30.

Where the Bengals Rank in NCAA Stats
Idaho State has the 20th best batting average in the country at .328 and they rank 44th in steals per game at 1.6. Kacie Burnett has the 30th best batting average in the country at .438 and she ranks 44th in runs per game at 1.03. Maddy Hickman ranks 47th in RBI per game at 1.06 and 40th in slugging percentage at .71. Micheala Taylor ranks 26th in the country as the toughest person to strike out.
