Bengals Host First-Place Sacramento State on Friday and Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team hosts first-place Sacramento State in a three-game series that begins Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at Miller Ranch Stadium. The series continues Saturday, April 23 with a single-game at 1 p.m. Fans can follow the games with live stats, video and audio at isubengals.com. Game 1 of the series on Friday will be broadcast on KISU and Saturday's game will also be broadcast on KISU.

About Sacramento State
Sacramento State is 22-15 and 11-1 in Big Sky Conference play. Sac State is hitting .294 and the pitching staff has a 3.21 era. In conference play the Hornet pitching staff has a 2.87 era. Sasha Margulies leads the Sac State offense with a .413 batting average. She has two home runs and 21 RBIs. Kailey Olcott is hitting .382. Celina Matthias leads the pitching staff with a 16-9 record and a 2.68 era in 156.1 innings pitched.

Bengals vs. Sacramento State
Idaho State leads the series 10-6. ISU is 4-2 against Sacramento State in Pocatello. The Bengals have won six of the last seven meetings and nine of the last 11. The Hornets did win the last meeting 10-6 in Pocatello during the Big Sky Tournament on May 8, 2015.

Slagle Climbing the Record Books For Wins
Sophie Slagle has a 27-15 record in the circle since arriving at Idaho State. Slagle's 27 wins ranks third all-time in ISU history.   Slagle's winning percentage is .642 (27-15), the best since Wendy Alvey went 16-6 (.727) in 1978 and Jo Hillegas-Skeleton was 16-6 in 1977 and 1979. The school record for most wins in a career is 43 by Kandis Clesson.

Burnett's Hot March Continues Into April
Kacie Burnett leads the Bengal offensive attack. She is hitting .443 and is 17-22 stealing bases. She has scored 38 runs and tallied 18 RBIs. In the month of March she hit .500, scored 17 runs, had 23 hits, was 7-8 stealing bases and had seven RBIs. In eight games in April she is hitting .481 with with 13 hits and she has scored 10 runs.

Portesi Making Early Impact
Alex Portesi has made an impact for the Bengals. The transfer from Farleigh Dickinson has the second-best batting average on the team at .386, scored 20 runs and has 15 RBIs. She is 4-4 stealing bases.

Taylor Having Solid Senior Season
Micheala Taylor has started all 38 games at second base and she at one  point had a 16-game hitting streak in the season. For the season she is hitting .345. She is second on the team in runs scored with 32.

Where the Bengals Rank in NCAA Stats
Idaho State has the 20th best batting average in the country at .327. Kacie Burnett ranks 26th in the country for the best batting average at .443 and 47th in runs per game at 1.00. Maddy Hickman is 33rd in RBIs per game at 1.08.
