POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State softball team fell to visiting Sacramento State 10-1 in six innings Saturday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium. The Bengals finished with five hits and scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
"We can't give [Sacramento State] things in their wheelhouse and expect to get outs," Head Coach
Candi Letts said. "If you put the ball in the wheelhouse, they are going to jack it out, every time…It was disappointing, but we can't forget the fact that we won two games yesterday."

Katelyn Marquez led the Bengals with two hits and one run, while junior
Alex Portesi finished with one hit and an RBI.
The game started off with two Sacramento State (23-17, 12-3 BSC) runs off a home run courtesy of Shasha Margulies. Idaho State (21-20, 8-5 BSC) countered, forcing two consecutive outs to close the top of the first.
Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the fourth when the Hornets scored two runs, followed by another two run inning in the top of the fifth. The Bengals were held scoreless through the bottom of the fifth, giving Sac State the 6-0 lead heading into the top of the sixth.
Sacramento State got hot in the top of the sixth, connecting on six hits for four runs and a 10-0 lead. The Bengals were able to get their first and only score late in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and two runners on. Portesi stepped up and hit a single to left field, enabling Marquez to cruise in for the score. Idaho State flied out to left field on its next at-bat, giving the Hornets their third out and the 10-1 win.
The Bengals are back in action April 29 as they travel to Portland, Ore. to take on Portland State at 3 p.m. MST in the first game of the double-header.
