Live Stats vs. Texas Southern
POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team hits the road for yet another series of road matches, this time in the Lone Star State. Idaho State faces Lamar and Houston Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. MST and 6 p.m. MST respectively followed by a Sept. 3 match against Texas Southern at 9 a.m. MST. All matches are part of the Cougar Classic, hosted by the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
SCOUTING LAMAR
The Cardinals are 0-3 so far this season with losses to Eastern Washington, Mississippi State and Kansas. Lamar is averaging 8.5 kills per set with a .068 hitting percentage to go along with 9.5 digs per set and 1.0 blocks per set.
This will be the sixth time in program history that the Bengals have faced the Cardinals. ISU leads the series 4-1 with all matches played at a neutral site.
The Cardinals are led by Head Coach Alan Edwards who is in his third season.
SCOUTING HOUSTON
This will be the first time in program history Houston and Idaho State will meet.
The Cougars are 2-1 on season with wins against UL Lafayette and at Houston Baptist and a loss to Weber State. Houston averages 12.8 kills per set with a .214 hitting percentage to go along with 14.2 digs per set and 1.8 blocks.
Houston returns four starters and 10 letter winners from last season's squad that finished 19-13 overall with a 9-11 finish in the American Conference, good for eighth place.
The Cougars are led by Head Coach Kaddie Platt who is in her fifth season and carries a 60-65 overall record.
SCOUTING TEXAS SOUTHERN
This will be the first time in program history that Idaho State faces Texas Southern.
Texas Southern was picked to finish third in conference play, and after starting the season 0-3, TSU claimed its first win of the season against North Carolina A&T on Aug. 27. TSU averages 9.6 kills per set with a .146 hitting percentage along with 11.5 digs per set and 1.2 blocks.
TSU returns outside hitter/middle blocker Kali Fluke, a two-time first-team SWAC selection and the 2014 co-offensive player of the year. She was most recently picked as the SWAC preseason player of the year.
Texas Southern is led by Head Coach Jocelyn Adams who is in her fifth season.
