Soccer Hits the Road to Open Conference Play

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State soccer team hits the road this weekend for games at Eastern Washington and Montana to open Big Sky Conference play. The Bengals face the Eagles of EWU Friday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. MST in Cheney, Wash. followed by the Griz on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. MST. in Missoula, Mont.

SCOUTING EASTERN WASHINGTON

This will be the 21st time Idaho State has faced the Eagles, and the Bengals carry a 12-7-1 overall record against EWU.

The Eagles are 6-1-1 so far this season and average 12.6 shots and 2.12 goals per game while shooting .168, including a .515 shot on goal percentage. Ten different players have scored for Eastern this season, and junior Chloe Williams leads the attack with five. Savannah Hoekstra is close behind with four.

Eastern Washington is coached by Head Coach Chad Bodnar who is in his third season with the Eagles.

SCOUTING MONTANA

This will be the 20th time in program history the Bengals have faced Montana. Montana leads the series 11-7-1 and won the last meeting 2-1 Oct. 16, 2015 in Pocatello.

Montana is 4-3-2 so far this season, and picked up a huge win at Purdue. So far, the Griz average 0.89 goals per game while shooting .105. Montana averages 8.4 shots per game, four on goal, with a .474 shot on goal percentage. In nine games, the Griz have netted eight goals.

Montana is led by Head Coach Mark Plakorus who is in his sixth year with the Griz.
