Soccer Returns Home for Weekend Conference Games

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State soccer team returns to Davis Field for a couple of conference home matches beginning with North Dakota Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. followed by Northern Colorado Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. The Bengals are searching for their first conference win following an 0-2 weekend to open conference play.

SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks are 1-6-2 overall with an 0-1-0 BSC record after falling to Weber State 2-0 in Ogden, Utah on Sept. 25. UND has netted two goals on the season for a 0.22 goals per game average, and it averages a .382 shot on goal percentage. Both Katie Moller and Karleen Yapello have goals on the season.

Defensively, North Dakota has given up 14 goals on the season, and UND goalkeepers Catherine Klein and Olivia Swenson have combined for 76 total saves on the season for a .844 save percentage.

North Dakota is coached by Head Coach Matt Kellogg.

SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
So far this season, the defending Big Sky Conference tournament champions are 6-3-1 with a 1-0-0 mark in BSC play. The Bears have scored 12 goals on the season, averaging 1.2 goals per game, with a 0.522 shot on goal percentage. Mariel Gutierrez leads the offensive attack with five goals and two assists.

Defensively, Northern Colorado has given up nine goals on the season while UNC goalkeeper Madeline Burdick has recorded 55 saves on the year with a 0.87 goals against average and four total shutouts.

UNC is led by Head Coach Tim Barrera.

SERIES HISTORY
ISU vs. UND: This is the fifth time in program history that ISU has faced UND, and the Bengals carry a 3-1-0 overall record against the Fighting Hawks. Last season, ISU fell 3-2 in Grand Forks, N.D.

ISU vs. UNC: This will be the 12th time in program history that ISU has faced UNC, and the Bengals carry a 5-5-1 record all time. UNC has dominated the series as of late, winning five of the last seven contests including a 3-0 shutout win in Greeley last season.
