POCATELLO, Idaho- A strong second half by the Weber State men's basketball team lifted the Wildcats to a 96-74 victory on Friday night at the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.
Idaho State trailed 45-43 two minutes into the second half before Weber State went on a 20-5 run to take a 65-48 lead with 11:59 left in the game. Weber State outscored the Bengals 51-38 in the second half and shot 8-15 from the three-point line.
"We didn't get back on defense and they shot a bunch of layups," Idaho State coach
Bill Evans said. "One of our goals was to keep them off the three-point line and we didn't do a very good job of that."
Ethan Telfair led ISU in scoring with 21 points in 37 minutes of play.
Brandon Boyd had 16 and
Novak Topalovic had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Topalovic was 6-10 from the field.
The Bengals shot 38.6 percent from the field and was 5-17 from the three-point line. Weber State shot 55 percent and hit 13 3-pointers on 23 attempts. The Wildcats out rebounded ISU 40-32 and hut 23-26 from the free throw line while ISU was 15-22.
Idaho State trailed 45-36 at halftime. Outside the 2-0 lead in the opening minute, the Wildcats led the entire game. WSU biggest lead was 13 points.
Idaho State hosts NAU on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym and then SUU comes to Pocatello on Saturday, Feb. 4
