Soccer Hosts Weber State in Final Game of Season

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State soccer team hosts Weber State Friday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. at Davis Field in its final game of the 2017 season. The game will also serve as Senior Day for five seniors who will be honored before the game: Jennifer McCaw, Danielle Snook, Baylee Smithson, Shawna Hennings and Sami Rodriquez.

BENGAL PREVIEW

· Last Time Out: Idaho State battled visiting Idaho in the inaugural Battle of the Domes, but the Bengals fell to the Vandals 2-1. ISU took the early lead off when Brooke Kortekaas found Lauren McGahie for the go-ahead score in the 20th minute, but the Vandals scored the equalizer just after halftime in the 57 minute. Idaho once more found the back of the net in the 77th minute to take the 2-1 lead. The Bengals were unable to score and fell to the visiting Vandals.

· ISU's Michaela Didericksen has come on strong for the Bengals as of late. She is currently tied with Bambei for the lead in goals scored for the Bengals with four after netting two goals at Sacramento State on Oct. 13.

· In conference play, the Bengals rank tied-for-third in the Big Sky in points with a 3.33 per game average and third in goals scored with 11 for a 1.22 per game average. However, Idaho State ranks last in the conference with goals allowed, having given up 23 goals in nine games for a 2.56 goals allowed average. Both Didericksen and Bambei rank in the top 10 in the Big Sky in shots, with Bambei taking the fifth spot with 3.11 shots per game and Didericksen filling the eighth spot with 2.67 shots per game. Bambei ranks tied-for-seventh in the conference in goals scored per game with 0.44.

SCOUTING WEBER STATE

· The Wildcats carry a 3-12-2 overall record with a 2-5-2 mark in Big Sky play. WSU has earned conference wins against Portland State and Northern Arizona, both in Ogden, Utah.

· In conference play, the Wildcats rank fifth in points with a 3.33 per game average, tied-for-fourth in goals with a 1.11 per game average, tied-for-fifth in assists with 0.89 per game and eighth in goals allowed with 1.33 per game.

· Morgan Quarenberg leads the offensive attack with eight goals on the season, which ranks fifth overall in the conference. Madison Garlock leads the team in assists with five on the season, and Garlock also leads the team in shots taken with 42.

· Sydnie Brough leads the Wildcats in goal with a 3-7-2 overall record. Brough averages 1.38 goals against and carries a .783 save percentage.

· The Wildcats are led by Head Coach Tim Crompton who is in his 14th season with the program.

· SERIES REVIEW: The Wildcats claim the lead in the overall series with a 11-8-3 record, and WSU also has the advantage in the series in Pocatello with a 6-4-2 overall record. In the last meeting, Idaho State defeated Weber State 1-0 in Odgen on Oct. 16, 2016.
