POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team continues conference play at home this week with matches against Montana Oct. 5 and Montana State Oct. 7. Both matches are at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.
BENGAL PREVIEW
Idaho State snapped its 11-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Southern Utah on Sept. 30; the win also marked the Bengals first conference win.
LAST TIME OUT: The Bengals bested the Thunderbirds 3-0 Saturday evening at Reed Gym.
Abby Garrity and
Chloe Hirst led the Bengals with nine kills each, while
Haylie Keck added a team-high 19 digs.
Hirst ranks in the top 10 in the Big Sky for kills per set, ranking 6th with 3.40 kills per set, while sophomore
Brooke Pehrson ranks fifth in services aces with 0.38 per set.
Haylie Keck is close behind, ranking seventh in service aces per set with 0.37. Keck also ranks in the top 10 in digs per set, ranking ninth with 3.90.
SCOUTING OPPONENT
MONTANA
· The Griz are 5-12 overall with an 0-4 mark in conference play, dropping Big Sky matches to Eastern Washington, Idaho, Sacramento State and Montana State. Montana has not won a set in the last three matches, and it has yet to win a match on the road.
· Mykaela Hammer leads the Griz in kills with 3.37 kills per set hitting .188 on the year. Shannon Casale leads the team in digs per set with 4.36 per set, good for third in the Big Sky.
· As a team, the Griz average 11.4 kills per set hitting .150 with 10.7 assists and 14.2 digs per set.
· Montana is led by first-year Head Coach Allison Lawrence. Lawrence was previously an assistant with the Griz for the last seven seasons.

SERIES REVIEW: The Griz lead the overall series 41-34, but the Bengals claim the edge in Pocatello 18-16. Idaho State has won the last seven meetings, including a 3-1 victory in the last meeting in Missoula, Mont. on Oct. 6, 2016.
MONTANA STATE
· The Bobcats are 5-8 overall on the season with a 1-3 record in Big Sky play and a 1-4 road record. Montana State picked up its first conference win Saturday at home against Montana in a 3-0 sweep, snapping a six-match losing streak.
· Natalie Passeck leads the Bobcats in kills with a 2.78 per set average hitting .195 on the season. Allyssa Rizzo leads the squad in digs per set with 3.78, while Kelsie White leads in blocks with 1.22 per set.
· As a squad, MSU averages 11.0 kills per set hitting .142 with 13.0 digs per set and 2.1 blocks per set. The Bobcats rank fifth in the conference in opponent hitting percentage, limiting their opponents to hit just .201.
· The Bobcats are led by Interim Head Coach Daniel Jones who is in his third season with MSU and first as interim head coach.

SERIES REVIEW: Idaho State claims the edge in this series with a 39-33 advantage including a 23-10 mark in Pocatello. The Bengals have won the last six meetings, including a 3-1 victory in Bozeman, Mont. on Oct. 8, 2016.
