Volleyball Hits the Road for Final Regular-Season Road Swing

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State volleyball team hits the road for its final regular-season conference road swing, making stops in Cedar City, Utah and Flagstaff, Ariz. The Bengals face Southern Utah Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. followed by Northern Arizona Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.

BENGAL PREVIEW

Idaho State clinched a spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament for the sixth-straight year after defeating Weber State 3-2 in Ogden, Utah. ISU is one of four teams to secure a spot in the postseason tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: ISU outlasted the Wildcats 3-2 on Oct. 28. The Bengals overcame a two-set deficit to earn the road win. Chloe Hirst finished with a season-high 24 kills while Haylie Keck finished with a match-high 36 digs.

Garrity ranks 8th in the Big Sky in kills per set with 3.44, while Haylie Keck leads the league in service aces per set with 0.41. Keck also ranks 2nd in digs per set with 4.74. In conference matches, Keck leads the Big Sky in digs per set with 5.89 while Ashlyn Van Every ranks in the top 10 in assists per set with 7.38.

SCOUTING OPPONENTS

SOUTHERN UTAH

· The T-Birds are 6-18 overall including a 2-7 mark in Cedar City with a 1-11 mark in conference play. Southern Utah picked up it first conference win with a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington on Oct. 7.

· As a squad, the T-Birds average 11.18 kills per set hitting .173 with 10.55 assists per set and 14.03 digs per set. SUU has averaged 1.22 service aces per set in conference play to rank fourth in the Big Sky.

· Macky Fifita leads the Thunderbirds with 2.98 kills per set hitting .168 to go along with a team-high 3.28 digs per set. MaCail Evans leads the squad in blocking with 1.28 blocks per set to go along with 2.23 kills per set hitting .327.

· Southern Utah is led by Head Coach Craig Choate.

· SERIES REVIEW: ISU leads the series 13-2 with a 5-1 record in Cedar City. In the last meeting, the Bengals swept SUU in Pocatello on Sept. 30 with scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-20.

NORTHERN ARIZONA

· The Lumberjacks are 11-12 overall including a 3-5 mark in Flagstaff with a 7-5 mark in conference play. NAU delivered Sac State's only conference loss on Oct. 26 with a 3-2 win and followed it up with a 3-1 win over Portland State. The 'Jacks are currently on a four-match winning streak.

· As a team, NAU averages 12.6 kills per set hitting .228 with 11.8 assists and 165 digs per set.

· Kaylie Jorgenson leads the 'Jacks with 3.85 kills per set, good for third in the conference. Jorgenson also averages 3.47 digs per set.

· The Lumberjacks are led by Head Coach Ken Murphy who is in his fifth season at the helm.

· SERIES REVIEW: ISU leads the all-time series 39-33, but the 'Jacks own the advantage in Flagstaff with a 20-13 edge. In the last meeting, NAU defeated ISU 3-0 in Pocatello on Sept. 28.
