Bengals Play at San Jose State on Wednesday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team plays its second straight road game on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at San Jose State. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. mountain time and Jerry Miller will call the action live on 102.5 KMGI. Live stats, audio and video are available at isubengals.com. Following Wednesday nights game, ISU plays at Seattle on Nov. 27.

Scouting San Jose State
San Jose State is 1-3 with its only win being a 97-45 victory over Antelope Valley. Ryan Welage leads the offense in scoring at 22 points a game. He is shooting 58.5 percent from the field. SJSU is scoring 72.8 points a game, shooting .458 percent from the field, .716 from the free throw line and .321 percent from the three-point line. San Jose State is out rebounding its opponents 39-29. The Spartans average 15.8 turnovers and 16 assists a game.

San Jose State leads the series 7-3. This is the first meeting since a 79-70 loss in Pocatello during the 1990-91 season. ISU is 3-3 against the Spartans in Pocatello, 0-2 in San Jose and 0-2 against SJSU on a neutral court.

A Look Back
Idaho State is 0-3 after dropping an 83-62 contest at Washington State on Nov. 18. Balint Mocsan had a career-high 21 points in the loss. Brandon Boyd had a career-high eight rebounds and five assists. The Bengals were out rebounded 33-32. In the second half, ISU was held scoreless for nearly six minutes, allowing WSU to pull away.

Jacob McCord has led offensive attack amongst the group of first-year Bengals. He is scoring 11.3 points a game and playing 20.3 minutes a contest. He is shooting .467 percent from the floor and he is 2-7 from the three-point line. He had 18 points in the season-opener at Arizona State. Blake Truman is averaging 13 minutes off the bench. Sam Dowd earned a start at Washington State and he is playing 13.3 minutes a game. Redshirt freshmen and walk ons Lyle Sutton and Houston Wahlen have seen their first action this season off the bench.

Veterans Lead the Way
72.9 percent of this year's scoring comes from Bengals who played on last year's team. Brandon Boyd leads the scoring with 42 points, Balint Mocsan has 32, Novak Topalovic has 29, Geno Luzcando 24, Erik Nakken and Gary Chivichyan each have eight points this year.
