Bengals Take Down Bethesda 92-71

The Idaho State men's basketball team had five players score in double figures led by Jared Stutzman's 20 points to beat Bethesda 92-71 on Friday night at ICCU Court in Holt Arena.

Geno Luzcando had a season-high 18 points (6-6 from the field) and seven rebounds while Balint Mocsan had 14 points and Novak Topalovic had 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Gary Chivichyan had 13 points off the bench.

Stutzman scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half, was 7-10 from the field and 4-7 from the three-point line in 30 minutes of play.

Idaho State led the entire game and led by as many as 26 points. The Bengals shot 53.7 percent from the field and out rebounded the Flames 44-28.
ISU turned the ball over 20 times but had 16 assists. Mocsan had a team-high four assists. Luzcando had five steals.

The game was close early as the Bengals led 15-14 with 12:43 left in the first half. ISU then went on a 15-4 run to take a 30-18 lead that was capped off by five straight points from Chivichyan.

Idaho State led 41-28 at halftime and in the first seven minutes of the second half the lead was extended to 61-37 following a 3-pointer by Stutzman.

Idaho State's biggest lead was 71-45 with 8:50 left after a free throw by Sam Dowd. Bethesda then went on a 19-4 run over the next four minutes to cut the ISU lead to 75-64 with 3:25 remaining in the game.

But over the final 3:25 Luzcando scored 10 points and had three steals to extend the Idaho State lead back to as many as 24 points at 90-66 with 57 seconds to play.
 
Idaho State hosts CSUN Wednesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at ICCU Court in Holt Arena.

Notes
- This was the first time ISU shot 50 percent or better from the field.
- This was the first time ISU out rebounded an opponent.
- 13 made 3-pointers was a season-high. The Bengals are 10-3 when making 11 3-pointers or more.
- Geno Luzcando's 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals was a season-high.
- Novak Topalovic had a season-high 10 rebounds.
- Gary Chivichyan had a season-high 13 points.
- Brandon Boyd was unavailable for tonight's game.
- Houston Wahlen scored his first career-points as a Bengal in the final minute of the game.
