POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 89-77 to Eastern Washington on Saturday afternoon at Reese Court in Cheney, Washington.
Idaho State shot 45.8 percent from the field and was led in scoring by
Brandon Boyd's 16 points.
Geno Luzcando had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Ethan Telfair had 13 points and
Novak Topalovic had 10.
Balint Mocsan had eight points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Eastern Washington out rebounded ISU 38-31. Idaho State was 17-24 from the free throw line and the Eagles were 27-34.
Eastern Washington shot 49.1 percent and was led in scoring by Jacob Wiley's 38 points and 15 rebounds.
Eastern Washington led the entire game and built a lead as big as 21 at 32-11 with 9:06 left in the first half. Idaho State cut its deficit to 10 at halftime at 43-33 following three free throws by Telfair.
The Bengals got within seven at 51-44 following a 3-pointer by Boyd with 14:16 left in the game. Eastern Washington made a run to lead by as many as 14 at 63-49 with 10 minutes to play. Idaho State then went on a 10-1 run to cut the Eagle lead to 64-59 with 7:44 left remaining. After six straight points by Boyd.
ISU got no closer the rest of the way and Eastern Washington made 12-13 free throws in the final three minutes to seal the victory.
Idaho State closes out the regular season on March 2 and 4 in Reed Gym vs. Montana State and Montana.
