Bengals Open Big Sky Play vs. Portland State on Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team opens Big Sky Conference play March 25-26 at Miller Ranch Stadium vs. Portland State. The two teams play a double header on March 25 at 1 p.m. and a single-game on March 26 at 1 p.m. KISU will broadcast the first game on Saturday and the single-game on Sunday. Scouting Portland State
Portland State is 2-18 and has yet to play a home game. Shae Nelson leads the Viking offense with a .377 average. Alexis Morrison is batting .345. Portland State is batting .256 and has two home runs and 49 RBIs as a team. The pitching staff has a 7.95 era. Alyssa Burk has pitched 42.2 innings, has a 1-6 record and a 6.40 era. Emma Detamore  has pitched 59.1 innings and has a 8.02 era.  Portland State leads the series 20-12 but the Bengals have won seven of the last eight meetings.

And the Winner Is
Kacie Burnett is the first Bengal to be named Big Sky Player of the Week this season. Burnett earned the honor after hitting .700 on a weekend ISU went 3-2 at the Colorado State Classic. She was 14-20 at the plate, scoring seven runs, with seven RBIs, two doubles and one triple.
