Scouting Sacramento State
Sacramento State comes into this weekends three-game series with an 11-14-1 mark and a 1-1 record in Big Sky Conference play. Idaho State leads the series 1-4. The Bengals are 6-3 vs. Sac State in Pocatello and 6-1 in Sacramento. The Hornets hold a 3-2 series lead at neutral sites. The Bengals have won 13 of the last 16 meetings.
And the Winner Is
Emma Bordenkecher is the second Bengal to earn Big Sky Player of the Week honors. She earned it for her performance last week vs. Portland State and UVU. The Lake Elsinore, Calif. native led ISU to a three-game series win over Portland State, hitting .667 in nine at bats. She scored six runs and had six hits with eight RBIs in addition to hitting three home runs over the series. Against Utah Valley, Bordenkecher appeared in one game of the double-header going 1-for-3.
Kacie Burnett was the first Bengal to be named Big Sky Player of the Week this season. Burnett earned the honor after hitting .700 on a weekend ISU went 3-2 at the Colorado State Classic. She was 14-20 at the plate, scoring seven runs, with seven RBIs, two doubles and one triple.
