POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team closed out play in the Colorado State Classic with an 8-0 loss to Colorado State on Sunday morning.
Colorado State scored two runs in the first, three in the third and three in the sixth to earn the shut out win. Both teams had seven hits. Idaho State finished the five-game tournament in Fort Collins, Colo., with a 3-2 record.
"We played a little more consistent than we have been but still need to play a complete game every game," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said.
Kacie Burnett had another solid performance as she was 3-3 at the plate. During the five game tournament at Colorado State, Burnett was 14-20 for a .700 average. She scored seven runs, had seven RBIs and had two doubles and one triple.
"Kacie prepares herself before and during games and trusts her preparation," Letts said. "She takes what the pitcher gives her and makes something happen. She had a tremendous weekend and makes the most out of it."
Ashlyn Ames took the loss in the circle, She pitched three innings, allowed five hits, five runs (three being earned).
Mariah Mulcahy pitched two innings and allowed three runs and
Harley Wells came in during the sixth.
Idaho State plays in a tournament at Oregon March 10-11. The Bengals play Oregon on March 10 and 11. ISU also plays Pacific on March 10 and Hofstra on March 11.
