POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team lost 10-1 in six innings to Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon in the final game of a three-game series. Despite the loss the Bengals still won the series after sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday vs. the Hornets.
The Bengals scored a run in the third inning but the Hornets then scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the sixth to earn the victory.
Idaho State had five hits while Sacramento State had nine.
Ashlyn Ames was 2-3 at the plate.
Sarah Hayes,
Emma Bordenkecher and
Kelsey Breer each had one hit. Hayes tallied the Bengals RBI by driving in Breer.
Harley Wells took the loss and dropped to 2-2. Idaho State is now 11-15 and 4-2 in Big Sky play while Sac State improved to 12-17-1 and 2-3 in league.
"We didn't capitalize on our opportunities or come up with the play to get out of the inning," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said. "We will continue to improve in those areas and as we get ready for our next conference opponent."
Idaho State returns to the field on April 7-8 for a three-game series vs. North Dakota.
