Live Stats vs. Michigan
POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team opens the 2017 season on the road this weekend with games at Chicago State and at Michigan. The Bengals face Chicago State Friday at 12 p.m. MST and then head to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Wolverines on Sunday at 12 p.m. MST.
SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE
· The Cougars are coming off a 1-16 season with a 0-7 record in the WAC conference.
· CSU returns 12 letter winners from last season's squad that includes six upperclassmen and seven starters. Last season, the Cougars struggled to defend with a 5.56 goals against average, while CSU netted just nine total goals on the season.
· Chicago State is under new direction with Head Coach Kevin Meek who is in his first season with the program. He carries a 76-52-15 overall career record.
SERIES REVIEW
This is the first time in program history that Idaho State and Chicago State have met.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN
· Michigan returns 15 letter winners and seven consistent starters from the 2016 squad that advanced to the NCAA tournament. The Wolverines also welcome an 11-person freshman class that is ranked No. 6 in the nation.
· U-M went 6-2-3 last season in Big Ten play to finish fourth. Eight Big Ten teams advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament, the most of any conference in the nation.
· Michigan scored 34 goals during the 2016 season to average 1.7 per game and gave up just 23 goals on the season for a 1.15 goals against average.
· U-M is led by 10th-year Head Coach Greg Ryan.
