POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team opens conference play on the road this weekend, beginning with a Sept. 22 game at North Dakota followed by a Sept. 24 matchup at Northern Colorado. The Bengals North Dakota matchup begins at 2 p.m. MST while their Northern Colorado game begins at 1 p.m. MST.
BENGALS PREVIEW
· Idaho State is currently on a seven-game skid with its last win coming in its season-opener on the road on Aug. 18. The Bengals defeated Chicago State 3-0, but they have struggled offensively since that 3-0 effort. Though the Bengals haven't struggled to find shots, taking 103 in the last seven games, they have struggled to find the back of the net. Of the 103 shots taken, 29 have been on goal for a .282 shot on goal percentage with just one goal.
Makena Bambei found the back of the net in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to UTEP on Sept. 3.
· Last Time Out: The Bengals struggled offensively, recording just nine shots without a shot on goal. Oregon rattled off 28 shots with 13 on goal for four goals. Senior goalkeeper
Shawna Hennings recorded eight saves on day.
NORTH DAKOTA:
· North Dakota is 2-3-3 on the season with a 1-1-2 record at home. UND's last win was on Aug. 20 at home against Western Illinois. The Fighting Hawks earned a 4-0 win behind Katie Moller's two goals and a goal each from Olivia Geiwitz and Erin Svensson.
· The Fighting Hawks average 0.88 goals per game with a 0.081 shot percentage.
· Katie Moller leads the offensive attack for the Fighting Hawks with four goals on the season off 27 shots with 11 shots on goal. Erin Svensson, Emma Contino and Olivia Geiwitz each have recorded a goal on the season. Goalkeeper Catherine Klein has 47 saves on the season and five goals against for a .904 save percentage.
· UND is led by Head Coach Chris Logan who is in his first season with the Fighting Hawks.
· Series Review: Idaho State leads the overall series 4-1-0, and it won the last meeting 2-1 on Sept. 30 in Pocatello.
NORTHERN COLORADO:
· The Bears are 6-3-0 overall on the season with a 4-1-0 record at home. UNC's lone home loss came at the hands of Big 12 foe TCU with a 2-1 loss on Aug. 27. The Bears have significant wins against Air Force, Colorado State and New Mexico State.
· UNC leads the conference in goals per game with a 2.14 average and assists per game with a 2.14 average. They rank second in goals allowed per game with a 0.71 per game average and have recorded three shutouts on the season.
· 10 Bears have scored this season, led by Mariel Gutierrez with four goals to go along with four assists on the season. Brooke Braden has three goals and four assists while Maddie Roberts also has three goals and four assists.
· The Bears are led by Head Coach Tim Barrera.
· Series Review: The series is tied 6-6-1, but Northern Colorado claims a 4-1-0 advantage in Greeley. Idaho State dominated in the last meeting, crushing the visiting Bears 6-2 on Oct. 2 in Pocatello.
