Volleyball Hosts Weber State Tuesday, Northern Colorado Friday

POCATELLO, Idaho – Undefeated in Big Sky play, Idaho State has no time to rest before hosting Weber State at Reed Gym this Tuesday, Oct. 2. The Bengals also wrap up their four-game home stand against Northern Colorado on Friday, Oct. 5.

Both matches begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday's match against Weber State is Dig Pink night presented by D.L. Evans. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to show support for survivors and individuals battling breast cancer.  

Friday's match against Northern Colorado falls on World Teacher's Day. All teachers receive free admission with a valid school ID and their family members receive $3 admission.

Last Time Out
Idaho State swept Eastern Washington on Thursday before downing Idaho in four sets Saturday night.

Abby Garrity tallied 26 kills on 80 attempts on the attack while adding seven aces, 14 digs and five blocks.

Idaho State was a force at the net with 25 blocks on the weekend as Pehrson and Steiner reached double figures in stuffs and kills.

Chelsea Johnson averaged 12 assists per set with 84 on the weekend. She also added a kill, two assists, a block and 16 digs.

Haylie Keck averaged six digs per set and had 42 between the two matches. She was named the Big Sky Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and the fourth time in her career. Keck's previous player of the week nod came in the second week of October in 2017. She has earned the honor at least once in every season.

The Bengals averaged 13.3 kills, 12.6 assists, 1.9 aces, 16.9 digs and 3.6 blocks per set over the weekend.

Scouting Weber State
Weber State enters the match with an 8-5 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Wildcats handed the Idaho Vandals their first loss of the season in four sets and swept the Eastern Washington Eagles in Ogden, Utah.

Andrea Hale and Megan Gneiting are both averaging more than three kills per set at 3.56 and 3.16 respectively. WSU is anchored on the block by Hannah Hill who averages 1.25 per set. Hill is also the nation's leader in hitting percentage with a .451 clip. 

Ashylyn Power averages 10.84 assists per set and five players have 90 or more digs this season.

The Wildcats record 12.7 kills, 11.8 assists, 1.3 aces, 14.8 digs and 2.5 blocks per set.

Jeremiah Larsen is in his third season as head coach of the Weber State program.

Scouting Northern Colorado
The Bears are 7-6 this season with a 3-1 mark in Big Sky Conference play. UNC was swept by Idaho to open conference play. Since then, the team has swept Eastern Washington, Montana and Montana State in consecutive matches.

Kortney Lockey leads UNC with 154 kills and 3.50 kills per set. Lauren Hinrichs and Taylor Muff are both hovering around 125 kills for the season. No starter for UNC averages more than one block every two sets.

Daisy Shultz has collected 11.24 assists per set and Taylor Els leads the team with 5.25 digs per set.  

The Bears average 13.5 kills, 12.9 assists, 1.5 aces, 16.5 digs and 1.2 blocks per set as a team. UNC leads the Big Sky in assists per set (12.89), kills per set (13.55) and attacks per set (37.84).

Northern Colorado is under the direction of Lyndsey Oates who has a 234-178 career record.
