ISU Opens Season at No. 3/4 Gonzaga

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State opens the 2018-19 season at No. 3/4 Gonzaga on Nov. 6.  Jerry Miller will call the action live on 102.5 with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m. and tipoff at 7 p.m. (MST). To follow the game on line with live stats and audio log onto isubengals.com. The game will be televised locally in Spokane on Root Sports.

Scouting Gonzaga
Gonzaga enters the season ranked third in the nation in the AP poll and fourth in the coaches poll. Gonzaga finished last season 32-5 and 17-1 in West Coast Conference play. Last year they lost 75-60 to Florida State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Last year, Gonzaga averaged 83.5 points a game and gave up 67.7.  The Bulldogs shot 49.8 percent from the field, .368 percent from the three-point line and .708 percent from the free throw line. Gonzaga averaged 39.9 rebounds a game, 15.2 assists and 11.4 turnovers.  Gonzaga had five players average double figure points, led by Jonathan Williams 13.4 points and 8.5 rebounds, Killian Tillie's 12.9 and Zach Norvell Jr. 12.7 points.

Idaho State shot 47.5 percent from the field last year. It was the best field goal percentage by a Bengal team since the 1996-97 team shot .475 percent and the 2003-04 team shot .463 percent. The school record for best field goal percentage in a season is .512 percent by the 1980-81 team.

Bengals Against Ranked Teams
Gonzaga is the highest ranked team Idaho State has played since hosting No. 6 Washington State during the 2007-08 season. Idaho State lost the game 75-45. The Bengals also played No. 8 UCLA that season and lost 89-49.
