POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team returns to the field March 21 for two games at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The Bengals play Utah State at 10:30 a.m. and then play UVU at 1 p.m.
The Bengals are coming off a weekend where they went 2-3 at a tournament at UC Riverside. Idaho State beat Purdue 6-1 and 3-0, lost to Texas Tech 7-1 and 5-1 and lost to UC Riverside 2-1.
Makenzie VanSickle continues to lead the Idaho State offense with a .340 average.
Ashlyn Ames is hitting .310 with one homer and seven RBIs.
Emma Bordenkecher is hitting .305 with two homers and a team-best 13 RBIs. Frank Tago has a team-best three home runs.
VanSickle has reached base in seven straight games and Tago has reached base in five straight games. Bordenkecher has four multiple hit and three multiple RBI games.
Utah Valley enters Wednesday's game with a 7-15 record. The Wolverines dropped a three-game series to Montana and two games at Boise State last week.
This will be the third meeting against the Wolverines as the two teams previously met in a tournament at Colorado State. The Bengals lost 6-3 and then won 7-3.
Utah State is 9-14 and has lost seven straight games. Utah State leads the overall series with ISU 26-16. The Bengals have won five straight meetings and six of the last seven vs. the Aggies. This is the first meeting since a 13-3 five inning win on March 25, 2015.
Utah Valley leads the series with the Bengals 25-18. Prior to the two meetings this year, ISU split two-games last year, winning 6-3 and losing 6-2.
