LEWISTON, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team fell 5-2 at Idaho Sunday afternoon at the Lewis-Clark State College Courts in Lewiston, Idaho. With the loss, the Bengals' season effectively comes to a close.
"We came out and competed once again and pushed the No. 1 team in the Big Sky Conference to their limit," Head Coach
Mark Rodel said. "I am sad to call our season to a close, and I am grateful to our team for how they kept fighting and working until the very end."
Idaho State (6-13, 3-8 BSC) was swept by Idaho (11-7, 9-1 BSC) in doubles play as the Vandals picked up a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, a 6-4 win at No. 1 and a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, ISU picked up two wins.
William Edin finished with a win at No. 2 singles as Carlos Longhi Neto retired in the second set.
Austin Gwilliam also earned a singles win for the Bengals, defeating Peter Shin in two sets, 6-4, 6-2.
