POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team took the three-game series from Northern Colorado with a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium.

With the score tied at 0 through 6 ½ innings, Genesis Zamora hit a one-out walk off single to lift ISU to the victory. Kelsey Breer, who reached on a Northern Colorado error to start the inning scored the winning run from second. She was ruled safe because of an obstruction call

"You cannot block a base unless you have the ball," Letts said. "She was blocking the base prior to the ball getting there. She made the runners path alter. If she would have stayed away from the base or let the runner have part of the base she would have been fine."

Ashlyn Ames earned the win as she allowed only five hits while striking out six and walking three.

"Ashlyn pitched much better today," Letts said. "She left them on base and got key strikeouts in the last two innings. Defensively we made some really key plays to get us out of innings. Aubrey's nice catch and turning a double play was big. We mustered enough to win the game."

Idaho State had five hits. Zamora was 2-3 with the winning RBI. Ames, Emma Bordenkecher and Frankie Tago all had one hit.

"We are starting to fight better and understand the urgency of how we need to play to win games," Letts said. "They showed a lot of confidence and calmness this weekend compared to the first two weekends. Now we are finally settled in and we know what we have to do."

Idaho State is now 3-6 in Big Sky Conference play. The Bengals play a single game at Utah State on April 11 at 4 p.m. and then host Sacramento State in a three-game series April 13-14.

"Whether you or 1 or 8 you have to keep playing every weekend because it can flip that fast," Letts said. "You have to keep winning and try to win all the series."
