Bengals Play at Utah State on Wednesday

POCATELLO, Idaho-
After winning two of three games vs. Northern Colorado this weekend at Miller Ranch Stadium, the Idaho State softball team plays at Utah State on Wednesday, April 11 at 4 p.m.

The Bengals took two of three from the Bears, winning 9-4 and 1-0 and losing 13-8 last weekend.

Utah State leads the overall series with the Bengals 26-17. Idaho State has won six straight meetings and seven of the last eight vs. the Aggies.

Earlier this season, Idaho State beat Utah State 7-5 in Orem, Utah. Idaho State trailed 3-2 after three innings before scoring five runs in the fifth to earn the victory. Ashlyn Ames earned the win in the circle while Makenzie VanSickle and Cassidy FitzGerald combined for four of the seven hits.

Utah State is 13-22 and 3-9 in Mountain West Conference play. The Aggies hit .283 and are led by Brina Buttacavoli's .361 average, six home home runs and 30 RBIs. Utah State has six players hitting over .300. USU's pitchers have a 4.13 era and led by Delaney Hull's 7-5 record in 87.2 innings of work.

The Bengals are hitting .236 as a team. VanSickle has a .324 average but is currently unavailable due to injury. Genesis Zamora has upped her average to .305 after hitting .625 in the Northern Colorado series. Emma Bordenkecher is hitting .292 with a team-best 16 RBIs and two home runs.

Following Tuesday's nonconference game, Idaho State hosts Sacramento State on April 13-14 at Miller Ranch Stadium. The doubleheader on April 13 starts at 2 p.m. while the April 14 single-game begins at 1 p.m.
