ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Idaho State (0-2) was unable to slow a strong New Mexico (2-1) offense as the Lobos dropped the Bengals 5-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Lobos had five different players score and built an early 4-0 lead before tacking on a fifth goal in the second period of play.
Idaho State shot eight times in the game and forced New Mexico to make three saves, but the defense was challenged as the Lobos erupted for 21 shots with 13 on goal.
Rachel Brownell was the only ISU player with two shots while
Makena Bambei,
Delaney Uyeshiro,
Brooke Kortekaas,
Meaghan Bare and
Natasha Camacho-Bier each registered one attempt.
Katie Hogarth played the first half and made four saves on 11 shots.
Laule'a Akana-Phillips also made four saves while facing ten shots in the second half.
The Bengals face Wyoming at home next Thursday, Aug. 30.
