POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball takes Reed Gym for the start of the Idaho State Invitational this Friday at 10 a.m. The invitational, presented by Idaho Central Credit Union, is back after a one-year hiatus, featuring Idaho State, Boise State, Milwaukee and UC Riverside in a six game, two-day tournament Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

Rick Reynolds. "It is a great opportunity for our community to see great volleyball over a two-day weekend and we are thankful for ICCU and their support of Bengal athletics."
Friday, Aug. 31, will feature three matches with the inaugural matchup pitting the hometown Bengals against UC Riverside in the Back-to-School Match. Students from local elementary schools will help fill the gym for the 10 a.m. event.
Milwaukee, coached by former ISU player and 1990 Big Sky Conference MVP Suisie (Ketchum) Johnson, faces Boise State at noon and UC Riverside in Friday's final contest at 5 p.m.
The tournament will conclude with three matches on Saturday, Sept. 1 with UC Riverside and Boise State starting the action at 10 a.m. Milwaukee and Idaho State meet in a match at noon and the tournament closes with an in-state clash between Idaho State and Boise State at 7 p.m.
Fans may gain admission by purchasing daily tickets or donating five school supplies (per person, per day).

Scouting Boise State
This will be the 66th meeting between these two teams. Boise State has a 33-32 edge on Idaho State after taking 2016 and 2017 victories. BSU defeated ISU 3-0 a season ago in Idaho's capital.
The Broncos are undefeated in two matches thus far. They defeated Long Beach State in five sets and Portland State in four sets at the Viking Summer Spike Invitational.
Boise State is averaging 11.6 kills per set and hitting .191 on the season. BSU also averages 10.4 assists per set, 13.6 digs per set and 2.6 blocks per set.
Sabryn Roberts leads the team with 3.67 kills per set while averaging 3.00 digs per set. Jessica Donahue is averaging 2.44 kills per set and hitting at a .375 percentage while recording 1.78 blocks per set.
Boise State is coached by Shawn Garus. Garus holds a 268-240 career record with a 160-121 record at BSU.
Scouting Milwaukee
In 2017, Idaho State traveled to Wisconsin for the lone matchup in the history of these two programs. The Panthers defeated the Bengals 3-2 in a tightly contested game.
Milwaukee has not recorded a win in four matches. They hosted the Panther Invitational last weekend and lost to New Hampshire (1-3), South Dakota (0-3), Northwestern (1-3) and Northern Illinois (0-3).
The Panthers are averaging 9.8 kills per set and hitting just .089. The team averages 9.2 assists, 13.6 digs and 1.9 blocks per set. Maken Mroczenski has played just eight of Milwaukee's 14 sets, but leads the team in kills per set (2.38) and attack percentage (.182). She is also averaging 1.12 blocks per set.
Milwaukee is coached by Susie Johnson who holds a 234-68 record with Milwaukee.
Scouting UC Riverside
The Bengals have a clean slate against UC Riverside, defeating them 3-2 in 2007 and 3-0 in 2013.
UC Riverside is 2-1 on the season with a lofty 14.2 kills per set and .249 hitting percentage. The team also averages 13.5 assists, 18.8 digs and 1.8 blocks per set.
The AVCA and VolleyMob named Kaiulani Ahuna the Player of the Week for her performances last week. The UC Riverside senior outside hitter averaged 6.67 kills and 3.67 digs per set while hitting at a .364 clip and added five blocks.
UC Riverside is led by Michelle Patton-Coleman who enters her third season with the Highlanders.
