Game 17: Idaho State at Montana

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team begins a two-game road trip in Montana on Thursday, Jan. 24. The Bengals play at Montana on Jan. 24 and at Montana State on Jan. 26. Tipoff in Missoula is at 7 p.m. while the Bengals and Bobcats tip off at 2 p.m.

Thursday is Miller's 2,000 broadcast as an Idaho State radio announcer.

Scouting Montana
Montana is 12-6 and 5-2 in Big Sky Conference play. Montana scores 75.4 points a game and allows only 67.7 points. The Griz shoot .481 percent from the field and .362 percent from the three-point line. Ahmaad Rorie scores 16 points a game and Jamar Akoh scores 15 and averages 8.6 rebounds. Michael Oguine scores 13.8 points and Sayee Pridgett scores 12.7.

In conference play Rorie scores 17.7 points and Akoh scores 16 and averages 9.1 rebounds. Montana is scoring 80.6 points and holding conference foes to 67.9 points a game. Montana is shooting 49 percent in conference play.

Recapping Northern Colorado
-Brandon Boyd scored 15 point to lead Idaho State. Kelvin Jones had 11 points, six rebounds and four blocks. Alonzo Walker had 10 points and seven rebounds.
-Idaho State shot 41.8 percent from the field and made only two 3-pointers on 17 attempts. The Bengals were 5-9 from the free throw line and out rebounded 35-31.
-Northern Colorado shot 44.8 percent and made 13 3-pointers on 27 attempts. The Bears had 14 assists to only five turnovers.
-Northern Colorado broke the game open midway through the first half. Idaho State trailed 16-15 with 9:03 to play until halftime after a layup by Balint Mocsan. Six minutes later the Bears extended their lead to 32-20 with 3:26 to play in the first half and led 42-27 at halftime.
-Idaho State got no closer than 13 points the rest of the night.
- Alonzo Walker's 10 points tied his season-high and his five made field goals was a season-high.
- Austin Smellie made his first career start and had a season-high three rebounds.
- Kelvin Jones had a season-high four blocks and his 27 minutes played tied his season-high.
- Blake Truman had his first career block as a Bengals.
- Idaho State is 0-4 when only three players score in double figures.

Road Warriors
Idaho State already has four road wins this season. Since the 2001-02 season the most road wins the Bengals have won is five. ISU won five road games in 2017-18, 2015-16 and 2005-06. The Bengals have won four road games in 2011-12, 2007-08 and 2006-07.
