Volleyball Preview: Montana and Montana State

POCATELLO, Idaho-
The Idaho State volleyball team continues conference play on the road this week against the University of Montana (Oct. 17) at 7 p.m. (MST) in Missoula, Mont. and Montana State (Oct. 19) at 7 p.m. (MST) in Bozeman, Mont.

University of Montana
Montana has an overall 2-15 record and is 1-5 in Big Sky Conference play, falling to Montana State (3-0), Northern Colorado (3-0), Idaho (3-1), Southern Utah (3-1) and Northern Arizona (3-2) and a victory against Eastern Washington (3-0). The Grizzlies average 10.2 kills per set for an attacking percentage of .158. Defensively, they average 12.7 digs per set and 1.9 blocks per set. 

Since 2009, Idaho State holds a 10-5 record against Montana and a 5-2 away record. In the 2018 season, the teams matched-up once with the Grizzlies defeating the Bengals (3-1) in Pocatello. From 2012 to 2017, ISU held an eight-match win streak over Montana.

During the 2018 season, Montana went 10-21 overall and 7-11 in conference.

Montana State
Montana State has an overall 8-7 record and is 4-2 in Big Sky Conference play with victories over Montana (3-0), Idaho (3-1), EWU (3-0), and NAU (3-2) with losses against UNC (3-0) and SUU (3-1). The Bobcats average 12.2  kills per set and a .202 attacking percentage. Defensively, they average 14.9 digs per set and 2.3 blocks per set. 

Since 2005, Idaho State holds a 14-4 record against Montana State and is 7-2 on the road. ISU defeated Montana State in Bozeman in their 2018 match-up (3-0). From 2012 to 2018, ISU held a eight-match win streak over Montana State. 

During the 2018 season Montana State compiled a 11-19 overall record and a 6-12 conference finish.

Keck Nears Big Sky Dig Record
Senior Haylie Keck is 307 digs away from becoming the All-Time dig leader in the Big Sky Conference. She currently has 2,048 digs and Kristin Lutes (Sac State, 2003-06) holds the record with 2,355 digs.
