Volleyball Preview: Northern Arizona and Southern Utah

Game Notes

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State volleyball team hosts both of its matches this week against Northern Arizona on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. (MST) and Southern Utah on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. (MST) in Reed Gym.

Admission to Thursday's Halloween match will be free for children 12 and under and $3 for fans in APPROPRIATE costumes (no masks, no weapons). Tickets are $7 without a costume. Admission to Saturday's match is $3 with a Northern Colorado football ticket stub.  Without a stub, admission is $7 for adults , $5 for kids, and free for ISU students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or call 208-282-FANS for tickets and information. The matches will feature Live Video, Live Stats, and Audio which can be accessed here:

Northern Arizona
Northern Arizona has an overall 13-9 record and is 6-4 in Big Sky Conference play with recent victories over Southern Utah (3-1) and Northern Colorado (3-0). The Lumberjacks average 12.4 kills per set for an attacking percentage of .233. Defensively, they average 16.2 digs per set and 2.1 blocks per set. 

Since 1979, Idaho State holds a 39-38 record against NAU and is 23-13 at home. NAU defeated ISU earlier this season in a 3-1 victory in Flagstaff.  Prior to that, ISU had won the last nine match-ups.

During the 2018 season, NAU was the Big Sky Champions, going 26-9 overall and 15-3 in conference play.

Southern Utah 
Southern Utah has an overall 11-11 record and is 4-6 in BSC with recent losses to Northern Arizona (3-1) and Northern Colorado (3-0). The Thunderbirds average 12.4 kills per set and a .218 attacking percentage. Defensively, they average 14.5 digs per set and 1.8 blocks per set. 

Since 1978, Idaho State holds a 14-4 record against SUU and is 8-1 at home. ISU defeated SUU earlier this season in a 3-0 victory in Cedar City. In 2018 the two teams matched-up twice with one ISU victory (3-0) on the road and a SUU victory (3-0) in Pocatello. 

The Thunderbirds went 6-24 overall and 5-13 in the Big Sky Conference during the 2018 season.
