Didericksen Scores Again in 2-1 Battle

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State soccer team fell 2-1 to Montana on Oct. 6 in Missoula, Mont.
 
Senior Michaela Didericksen scored an unassisted goal at 42 minutes to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead before half time. Diderickson is now tied with senior Jazmin Lopez for the team's leading scorer with three goals on the season.

The Grizzlies came back in the second half netting a goal at 67:56 and again at 70:38 leading them to a 2-1 victory.

"Very disappointed with the result especially after leading the game for so long and having one of our best defensive performances yet," Head Coach Debs Brereton said. "We had two lapses in focus just minutes apart giving Montana an opportunity to make an impact on the game which credit to them, they took both chances well."

The Bengals recorded a total of seven shots with three on goal against Montana's 18 shots and 10 on goal.

"We pushed to get ourselves back in the game and came very close on a few occasions to equalize," Brereton said. "Montana's goalkeeper made a great save to keep us at bay in the dying minutes. We have now led 3 out of the 4 games in conference and are really looking forward to getting back to Davis on Friday and getting back to our winning ways in front of our fans."

Senior goalkeeper Katie Hogarth recorded eight saves in today's match. She now has 94 saves so far this season, the fourth most saves in a single season in school history. The senior has compiled 160 saves in her career, the fifth most in career saves in school history.
 
Idaho State hosts their final home conference matches next week vs. Eastern Washington (Oct. 11) at 4 p.m. (MST) and Idaho (Oct. 13) at 1 p.m. as a part of Homecoming weekend. Senior Day will be celebrated on Sunday's match vs. Idaho.
